Description
The IMSA Traffic Signal Technician I Certification certifies the holder as being knowledgeable about the ideas and terms related to signalized traffic control devices and systems.
The exam tests knowledge of basic electrical specifications of cabinet wiring and components; operating principles; the tools, processes, and materials used to build signal systems; the fundamentals of traffic signal operation and upkeep; and legal concerns.
With the right supervision and direction, the bearer of this certification is ready to contribute to any traffic signal crew that is working on construction and maintenance.
Prerequisites
Current IMSA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician or an IMSA-approved Work Zone Equivalent.
One year of experience is required in the field of traffic operations.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students holding a non-IMSA Work Zone are required to upload their certificate to their IMSA profile for review and approval. Florida students can continue to submit the FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (or higher), ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: This is for New Certification (Exam) students only and only needs to be done once. If you already have a Work Zone on file with IMSA, you don't need to do this. *** Renewal students do not need to do this ***
