The paperwork/procedures required to get or maintain IMSA certifications might appear confusing without proper guidance. From prerequisite requirements to certification applications and declaration releases, keeping track of everything you need to do can be challenging but we're here to help you navigate the bureaucracy of it all :)
Paper certificates are no longer mailed. STUDENTS CAN DOWNLOAD THEIR CERTIFICATES RIGHT FROM THEIR IMSA PROFILE :)
Note: By submitting the Declaration and Release to me, you agree that I can make neccessary modifications to maximize your renewal hours.
FYI: You need to be able to access your IMSA profile to verify the certifications you can renew and also to download your updated certificates when they're available.
Go to my Catalog page and select the program you want to attend.
Scroll down to the Prerequisite section. Do you meet the prerequites?
FYI: You can attend any IMSA program before you meet the prerequisites BUT your certificate WILL NOT be released until you complete/submit your prerequisites.
If you know your IMSA login:
Skip the rest of the step two, Sign In to your IMSA profile, and follow steps 3-6 :)
If you don't know your IMSA login: Find my IMSA ID: Video Instructions
A. Go to the Account Search section of IMSA Safety
B. Only search by your first initial and last name - don't use email or company info. If you put too much in the search the system won't find you. (A common name might require your whole first name.)
C. If you find yourself, Make Note of Your Username
D. If you don't find yourself - STOP! Do not create a new profile! Send me an email
Accessing your profile
A. From the Sign In page, use the Forgot Password link and put in the Username you just found. IMSA's system will send a password reset to the email account associated with your IMSA profile.
B. If you don't receive an email within 5 to 10 minutes, check your Spam/Junk folder.
C. If there is nothing in spam/junk, it is possible your IMSA profile is associated with an old email. STOP! Do not create a new profile! Send me an email
A. Please make sure you complete the About Me section of your profile so IMSA can assign you to the proper section. When you're assigned to the Florida Section, I can access your records and help you more :)
B. Double check that your email is correct.
C. Don't forget to save your username and password - you're going to need it :)
D. If you've set-up a login here on my website, under your "My Profile" section, you can add your IMSA username and password so I can login as you and do things for you in an emergency (not your exam - I'm not that kind of smart :)
Uploading your non-IMSA Workzone
This is for new/first-time Level 1 students only - not renewal students.
Before you do anything, go to the My Certification Record section of your IMSA profile.
If you've already got a Workzone Equivalent in there - DON'T DO THIS!!!
If you don't have a Workzone Equivalent in your profile, here's a video on how to upload your non-IMSA Workzone: UPLOADING NON-IMSA WORKZONE
Completing a Certificate Application is required everytime you take an IMSA exam.
Here's a video on how to complete it properly: IMSA TO DO LIST: VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS
If everything is done correctly, the View My Courses button should show in the My Courses section of your profile which means you're ready when exam time comes :)
IMSA exams are all closed-book (no notes, no phone a friend, nothing). I've been doing this for over a decade and it's NEVER been open book so don't believe whoever told you that :)
You have a 12 hour window to access your exam (from 12 pm on second day of program to midnight) and 3 hours to complete your exam once you begin.
Your exam is proctored.
If you're at an in person program, your moderator will proctor your exam.
If you're attending virtually, you are being monitored by the Integrity Advocate system. Please read this document for important information about Integrity Advocate.
Exam results are Pass or Fail ONLY (no numeric scores are posted). When IMSA is finished reviewing things, your results are posted in the "My Courses" section your IMSA Profile under "Completed Online Courses" (not the exam hosting page).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please make sure you follow all of the above steps. If anything is missing, IMSA will let you know in the Notes section next you your result - but I can tell you now - your certificate will not be released if you do not complete your Certificate Application, Declaration and Release, and submit any prerequisites (i.e. Workzone).
