Description

Our transportation system relies heavily on traffic signals, and the smooth operation of these signals is crucial to preserving safe mobility. Knowledgeable traffic signal inspection is required to make sure that proper construction techniques are followed for signal installation, resulting in signals that perform properly. An important component of lowering the liability exposure of governmental organizations due to improper installation is knowledgeable inspection.

The IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Certification is intended to demonstrate that the holder comprehends the basic ideas and standards related to traffic signal system installation procedures.

The certificate holder is ready to contribute significantly to the traffic signal inspection team.

Prerequisites

Current IMSA Traffic Signal Certification

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students holding a non-IMSA Work Zone are required to upload their certificate to their IMSA profile for review and approval. Florida students can continue to submit the FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (or higher), ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: This is for New Certification (Exam) students only and only needs to be done once.  If you already have a Work Zone on file with IMSA, you don't need to do this. *** Renewal students do not need to do this ***

🌟 IMSA Policy & Procedures – Read Before Enrolling 🌟

Help us help you — please review the new policy changes before scheduling students. IMSA has rolled out several new rules that prohibit certain actions related to enrollment, communication, and fees. Reading this will help prohibit confusion later. 😊

And remember: I’m fast 👟 I’m friendly 🫂 I drink coffee ☕☕☕☕ (These behaviors are prohibited in some organizations — not mine 😁)

🟡 WELCOME TO IMSA’S ROARING 20’S - THE PROHIBITION ERA

Who Can Contact IMSA About Exam Results?

Welcome to the Roaring 20’s of Certification 😁 Where IMSA prohibits students from contacting the International Office about exam results. Yes. They really prohibit that. (We verified. Twice. Not satire — as satire is also prohibited 😂) Therefore, please prohibit yourself from reaching out directly to IMSA — APA will be your knight in tin-foil armor and handle it for you 🤩

🟡 Unlocking an IMSA Identity

(IMSA Prohibits Ease of Access)

To avoid fees, incorrect enrollments, and general chaos, you’ll need a verified IMSA ID. Visit our Help Desk FAQ: “How do I log in to my IMSA Profile?” If the IMSA site prohibits your success, don’t worry — Contact us 😁 APA prohibits judgment and encourages stellar customer service ❣️

🟡 New vs Renewal: How to Tell?

(Spoiler: IMSA Prohibits You From Knowing 😂)

IMSA prohibits public viewing of certification records. This information is heavily protected by what we assume is a paperwork dragon. Only two non-IMSA entities are not prohibited from accessing a student’s status:

✔ The student (if the universe permits them into their profile)
✔ Me — because the Certification Chair job prohibits logical expectations 😇

If you’re unsure, just email. Guessing is strictly prohibited🙃

🟡 IMSA’s Official Cutoff Policy – The 5-Day Wall

Because what is certification without a little prohibition? 😂Need to add a student? IMSA prohibits roster changes within 5 days of class. After that point, the roster is locked down like a nuclear bunker. Coffee cannot help. Charm is prohibited. Hope is optional. To ensure students are included:

• Submit names at least 5 days before class
• Confirm New vs Renewal
• When in doubt: Prohibit yourself from guessing

🟡 The $35 Accidental Enrollment Fee

(A Fee IMSA Does Not Prohibit Itself From Charging)

If we enter the 5-day window, IMSA (at their discretion) now charges $35 for incorrect enrollment types (New vs Renewal), reschedules, and/or cancellations. Regardless of who made the mistake, the fee is billed directly to me — even if the student never takes the exam (because nothing says 'customer service' like charging a fee for an exam you didn't take :) Since APA prohibits passing along baseless fees, please triple-check enrollment types. If you’re unsure, asking is strongly encouraged (and never prohibited) 😇

🟡 About That Scheduling Blackout…

(IMSA’s Hemisphere-Wide Prohibition Rule)

If you notice a gap in our schedule, don’t panic. Nothing is broken. IMSA prohibits sections from offering any programs: 30 days before their conference through 7 days after their conference. Because running a course anywhere on Earth might “interfere with conference participation.” We do not write these prohibitions. We merely survive them  Normal programming resumes when IMSA stops prohibiting it.

🟡 Want to Share Feedback With IMSA?

Good news — for now, IMSA does not prohibit feedback 😇

If you feel a particular way, or would simply like to send commentary to leadership (not the messenger — me), here are the Key Players:

IMSA Leadership Contacts:
• Heidi M. Cramb – Executive Director: hcramb@imsasafety.org

• Tim Rasmussen – Director of Education & Certification: trasmussen@imsasafety.org

• Ann Marie Hughes – Director of Finance & Operations: finance@imsasafety.org

(IMSA prohibits many things but not emailing them 🙃)

🟡 IMSA Values You ❣️

(Prohibited in No Known Policy)

Students, members, and certificate holders are the foundation of IMSA —the reason it exists and the engine that keeps it running. Your courses, renewals, and certifications support IMSA’s programs and staff. Your voice matters — and telling leadership how you feel is not prohibited😊 Their contact details are right above 💛

An accurate count of the “prohibit” variations in the notice above, emailed to me, will earn you a $25 discount code on your next enrollment.
